Dios mio, man. Christopher Cross and Dylan Schwan return with news of The Jesus getting his own The Big Lebowski spin-off. That’s insane, right? This thing is actually happening? Weird. But we also put on our critic hats and discuss the new film from Laika, Kubo and the Two Strings. Does this Laika film do something their previous efforts haven’t been able to do before? We dig deep into the animated film and debate the potential divide between this film for adults and kids.
Before that though, we talk about The Jesus movie, the box office numbers and what happens when Vin Diesel gets to just post whatever he wants to Facebook. Also, is Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice a dark film? Apparently not to one person. There are also a crazy amount of blu-ray releases this week, with The Nice Guys (hear our podcast for that and read our review) being our pick of the week, easily. Though there are so many releases and Ash vs Evil Dead‘s first season was definitely a close second. We also have two Criterions to discuss.
We’re off next week, but we’ll be back September 7th for a review of The Light Between Oceans.
