2016 is almost over, which is now the universal sign that a new Star Wars film needs to come out. So Christopher Cross and Dylan Schwan aim their sights on Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the first standalone film from the franchise. Directed by Gareth Edwards, the film stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Alan Tudyk, Mads Mikkelsen, and Donnie Yen. As well as a ton more people, of course. We talk about the movie’s place in the canon, how the future of standalone films could shape up, and the ethical issues of some of the film’s decisions. You can read Dylan’s review to find out more of what he thought of the film.
On top of that we discuss two documentaries in the form of Tower and Weiner. As well as a review of Mike Birbiglia’s 2016 film, Don’t Think Twice and the series finale of Rectify. Then to cap it off, Chris saw Collateral Beauty so we just go ahead and spoil everything from that. There are plenty of trailers to discuss too, including Blade Runner 2049 and John Wick Chapter 2, so tune in for our thoughts on those.
Next week we will be back with a look at La La Land. Plus, there’s no way we don’t see Assassin’s Creed so keep an eye out for that one too.
