Not to alarm anyone, but this is Christopher Cross and Dylan Schwan’s 50th episode of Film Fallout. To celebrate, we each picked two movies that we just needed to experience together. The first movie covered is Turn it Up which stars Ja Rule, Pras, and Jason Statham in Ja Rule’s feature film debut from the director of the sequel to You Got Served. The second film was Sleepaway Camp, which is a slasher movie that manages a weird tone that leads to an even weirder and bonkers ending. Our third film was R.O.T.O.R. which is a cheap combination of The Terminator and Robocop with a Mad Max feel to it. Then finally, we discussed Gymkata, a film which follows a gymnast with exceptional karate skills who helps America compete in a deadly game that if won will grant him one wish. Oh and it’s directed by the same person who did a lot of Bruce Lee films including Enter the Dragon. This is a doozy of an episode, everyone.
We also get some news in there, but omit blu-ray releases because we figured there’s enough to talk about. The good news is that next week is relentless in its releases. Our main film will obviously be John Wick: Chapter 2, but we’ll both probably see The Lego Batman Movie and Chris has all the intentions in the world to go see Fifty Shades Darker. We’ll see what happens, but regardless John Wick is back and we couldn’t be more excited.
