The cat is officially out of the bag, Square Enix has formally announced that Final Fantasy X-2 is indeed getting the high-def treatment. Coming exclusively to the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita, gamers will be able to experience the world of Spira in full high-definition. Final Fantasy X and its sequel will be available on a single blu-ray disc for the PS3. No word yet if both games will be bundled for the Vita, but it is believed that they will be sold as separate titles.
Square Enix has been very quite about the project since announcing that Final Fantasy X was being remade back in 2011. No doubt that remaking an RPG takes quite a bit of time, and it would explain why not many do get the HD treatment. With news that X-2 is also being remade it now would seem why the folks at Square Enix would be mum on the topic. Hopefully the wait won’t be much longer for fans to get their hands on the games.
Yoshinori Kitase, the producer for Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2 had this to say, “These games are classic fan-favorites, and we hope that new and old FINAL FANTASY fans can experience the world of Spira and the story of Tidus and Yuna in a brand-new light with the remastered editions.”
