It has been revealed that Capcom are planning to release a free app named “Capcom Arcade Cabinet”.
Speaking to Japanese games magazine Famitsu, Producer Kenji Kataoka revealed that the app will be downloadable to both PS3 and Xbox 360 and will offer Capcom arcade games for sale. People who download the app will also receive one free game. The only game currently confirmed for the app is Black Tiger, a side-scrolling platform adventure from 1987.
The app will allow players to adjust the difficulty of downloaded games, with Kataoka elaborating (in a translation by Polygon) “This allows you to engage in training, and we’ve got support for turbo buttons and arcade sticks as well. I was able to use these functions to reach the ending on pretty much all of the games [we have planned], so they’re great for people who were annoyed they couldn’t beat them back then.”
A full announcement of Capcom Arcade Cabinet is apparently scheduled for 7th February.
