FreedomPop, a freemium Internet service provider here in the United States, is aiming to lowblow national carriers by introducing the first free wireless plan.
The service’s basic plan, which comes with 200 anytime minutes, 500 text messages, and 500MBs will be priced at $0.00. In regards to this plan, the only thing customers will pay for is for the phone itself. Speaking of which, the phone is a $99 HTC Evo Design 4G that will run on Sprint’s WiMAX instead of LTE. FreedomPop does plan to add more Android phones by year’s end. In addition, it runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, which is dated software at this point, but there’s not much to complain about.
If you want extra data, you can pick up packs of 1GB for $10, 2GB for $20, 4GB for $35, or 5GB for $40. For voice and text, you can go unlimited for only $11 a month. If you’re interested, you can make your way to FreedomPop’s website and decide for yourself.
