With Frozen being one of Disney’s biggest smash hits at the box office and on the music charts, it’s natural that Disney will expand on the film. ABC will be airing The Story of Frozen: Making a Disney Animated Classic on September 7 at 8:00pm/7:00pm central. The one-hour behind the scenes feature focus on the production of Frozen (hopefully not just a prank like the Blu-ray featurette) and will also have a sneak peak of Disney’s next animated project, Big Hero 6. But the real interesting bit about this special is this quote from the press release:
This special will also include some exciting announcements about the next chapter of “Frozen” and a never-before-seen preview of “Frozen” characters Anna, Elsa and Kristoff on an upcoming episode of ABC’s smash-hit “Once Upon a Time.”
The next chapter could just be referring to the recently announced Frozen chapter books that will continue the story. Or it could be a very flashy teaser for a sequel film with little more than a release date flashed on screen. Who knows, maybe they might find some strange way to continue the story through Once Upon a Time. At any rate, you can bet Disney has something big planned for a film that made over $1 billion and stuck around long after its November 2013 release. All will hopefully be revealed when the special debuts this September.
