343 Industries, the developer behind the upcoming Halo: The Master Chief Collection, have confirmed that they will be adding in new content to their Halo remake in order to hint at the story of Halo 5: Guardians. The team has worked with the special effects company Blur Studio to create bookend cinematics that tie Halo 2 Anniversary not only to Halo 5 but also to Halo: Nightfall.
“While we’re going to stay very true to the main storyline to make sure it stays exactly the same, there are a number of opportunities on the fringe that allow us to start to hint at those larger stories that are coming,” said 343’s executive producer, Dan Ayoub. “If you remember the terminals from the first Halo: Anniversary where you could find and unlock motion comic-style pieces that filled in story for what was going to happen in Halo 4, we’re doing a lot of the same in Halo 2 that are going to start to hint at some things that are coming down the line in Halo 5. Our terminals in Halo 2: Anniversary are going to focus on The Arbiter. You’ll start to get an idea of his history and a little more about him.”
At this year’s E3, 343 released a teaser trailer which showed The Arbiter talking with Agent Locke, a new character that will feature in both Halo: Nightfall and Halo 5: Guardians.
Halo: The Master Chief Collection is an Xbox One exclusive that is due to release on November 11.
