In a post on the official Hitman website, the team at IO-Interactive has announced that their next entry in the Hitman franchise will be delayed until March of 2016. The reasons cited for the delay seem to stem from fans anticipating few missions available upon launch. The delay is set to help IO-Interactive develop more missions for launch and tighten the release schedule of updates so that missions are released more frequently, with a solid core game to start.
Last month, sites reported that Hitman would only launch with seven missions, based on a listing by Amazon. This delay seems like a logical response to the skepticism that has plagued the game since its strange release model was detailed. The game was originally set to be released on December 8th, 2015 as a digital-only release with a physical retail release to follow.
Hitman will now be released sometime in March, 2016 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
