As of January 31st, IO Interactive’s popular revamp of the Hitman franchise will become far more deadly. Players will have the opportunity to play all of the story missions from season one on Professional Difficulty, which will come as part of January’s free update.
Professional Difficulty in Hitman can only be unlocked after completing Mastery Level 20 for a location. So if you get it in Paris, you unlock the new difficulty there, but you still have to complete Mastery Level 20 in the other locations to unlock it there. The only story mission not receiving the new difficulty is the prologue, presumably because that is merely training.
Allow me to stress just how much more difficult Professional Difficulty will be when players decide to take on the challenge. You know how security cameras would record you every now and then if you waked by one? Well now you will have guards dispatched to your location if you do anything illegal in front of the cameras. There will also be more security cameras. To make it more challenging, you’ll need to kill someone cleanly in order to get their disguise. There are plenty of other modifiers which you can see below, but the other notable ones are no auto-saves and only one manual save slot.
It’s smart to make this an unlockable after reaching Master Level 20 as you should already have a grasp on the map and AI patterns. It sounds like IO is aware of how much you might know so they’re gonna push players towards new ways to play. Watch out for the update when it comes to Hitman on January 31st.
