Did you enjoy playing Hyper Light Drifter when it came out earlier this year on Steam? Or are you waiting for the console releases for PS4 and Xbox One? Either way, you may want to splurge a bit because iam8bit has announced a collector’s edition for the critically-acclaimed game that will definitely pique a lot of people’s interests (including mine). Going on sale May 26th at 10 AM PDT on iam8bit’s official site, the collector’s set contains a digital download of the game on PS4, Xbox One or Steam, a custom Blue SNES cartridge (unfortunately, it does not actually work), a replica box for the SNES cartridge, a 24 page manual and a 24×18 inch world map. Take a look at the images below for a closer look:
Alongside the collector’s edition, there is some other Hyper Light Drifter merchandise coming out that will interest some. While the collector’s edition will retail at $65.00, the most expensive item is actually the vinyl release with music from the game’s composer, Disasterpeace. Priced at $75.00, the 4 LP set contains some incredible artwork and a wide range of colored vinyl, as well as a digital copy of the soundtrack. What is probably coolest is that folding the gatefold LP out creates an arrow similar to the game’s movement. Images for that can be seen below, as well:
The final thing going on sale tomorrow will be two lithographs, which you can check out on the Hyper Light Drifter store page. This is a game where its artwork and aesthetic matters a lot, and it is no surprise to see them pushing merchandise for the game. I still haven’t been able to get my hands on it, but this seems like a hot collector’s item for anyone who is into the visuals and music. None of the releases have a set number to how many will be produced, but the collector’s edition is expected to be far more limited for PS4 and Xbox One than Steam.
