I’ve been anxiously awaiting news on Hyper Light Drifter‘s release date since it was posted as a Kickstarter back in September of 2013. Its beautiful pixel art and seemingly frantic combat seems to lend itself greatly to a Legend of Zelda-esque adventure. Now we know that the game will be released on March 31, 2016 (that’s just over a week!) for PC and Mac. Along with this announcement, a trailer was released which you can watch above.
The trailer is beautiful, with Disasterpeace’s score being placed front and center. Best known for his work on Fez and the recent horror film, It Follows, Rich “Disasterpeace” Vreeland isn’t the only notable member of the Heart Machine crew. Samurai Gunn‘s creator, Beau Blyth, is working on the game alongside plenty of other notable members of the indie scene. Heart Machine is looking to make something unique and wonderful, and it already seems to be playing on some of my favourite games to make it happen.
Hyper Light Drifter will be available on PC and Mac on March 31st, 2016. Consoles versions of the game will be coming soon, but not until later in the year. Lets just be thankful we’re finally getting this game.
