Guilty Gear Strive, a game we’ve talked about at length here at BagoGames. New characters, open betas, netcode, almost everything regarding this game have been discussed in some capacity here. This brings us to today’s announcement, as the game’s second DLC character was revealed and got a release date to boot.
About three weeks ago, Goldlewis Dickinson graced the Guilty Gear community with his playable debut. Known as The Secretary of Absolute Defense, he brought a style that focused on his special move known Behemoth Typhoon, along with various tools to mix your opponent. The second DLC character, Jack-O’, is a complete departure from that style. She has her own trailer, too, which you can watch below.
Jack-O’s Playstyle and Release
Jack-O’ was originally a DLC character in Guilty Gear Xrd, and is DLC again this time around. Her playstyle very heavily revolves around using her summonable minions to advance onscreen and attack the opponent. In a departure from her previous incarnation, the minions have been reworked, as she lost her previous gimmick of setting houses to automatically spawn them (which could lead to the screen getting extremely cluttered and busy if she had momentum).
Jack-O’ can have three minions active at a time and can set them to detonate on a countdown or launch them across the screen, making them projectiles. Whether her playstyle will become overwhelming for others to deal with at length, is something we won’t know until she releases. Which, on that topic, she also got a release date.
Jack-O’ will be releasing on August 27th for Season Pass 1 owners, and will be available for individual purchase on August 30th. That’s about 12 days from now (as of the time of writing). As always, buying Season Pass 1 will give you instant access to her the moment the update goes live on the 27th, otherwise, you’re shelling out $4.99 to buy her separately.
Guilty Gear Strive is available now on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam.
