You might know that there’s a big movie called Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice out on the horizon for 2016. You might also know of a little film called Suicide Squad that’s coming out next year too. What you might not know is just how crazy one Clown Prince of Crime is for it too – or should we say, The King of the Craziest Closeups Ever.
It was just a week ago that leakers forced Warner Bros. Pictures’s hand and saw the early release of Batman V Superman‘s first trailer. Now, director David Ayer’s tweeted us our first look at Oscar-award winning actor Jared Leto’s take on Batman’s arch nemesis.
The actor, known for his roles in American Psycho, Fight Club, and his award-winning performance in The Dallas Buyer’s Club, can be seen below expressing his sheer glee at the candid shot of his many, many tattoos. Funny enough, only his left arm’s smiling in this pic.

Suicide Squad will follow its original group of the DC universe’s worst super villains working for the US government on suicidally dangerous assignments no one else could – or would – take.
They include the deadly super-assassin, Deathstroke; Margot Robbie’s crazy Harley Quinn, Jae Courtney’s dexterous Captain Boomerang, Joel Kinnamen’s heavily-armed Rick Flag, and Will Smith’s one-eyed marksman, Deadshot. How and where the Joker does fit into the scheme of things is something we’ll wait to find out August 5th, 2016.
As Ayer notes, the character’s now a ripe-old 75 years-old, so we suppose he’s earned the right to let loose, if not just a little. To date, the Joker’s been played onscreen by some of Hollywood’s finest, from Caesar Romero to Jack Nicholson to The Dark Knight‘s late Heath Ledger. This is arguably the first time we’ve ever seen this much skin from any one of Batman’s rogues gallery – even its women. Not much more than Batman V Superman‘s king of the sea, though.
What do you think of our new Joker?
