Yesterday, TreeFortress Games from Edmonton released their 2-D, retro platformer, JumpJet Rex, on Steam Early Access. The title will only be in Early Access for a short period of time and then will officially be released on Steam. Set in glorious 16-bit, JumpJet Rex takes place in an aerospace world where players control a T-Rex. But not just any Tyrannosaurs Rex though, as this one comes equipped with his own interstellar jump boots. In this fast-paced game, your character must stop a gigantic asteroid from wiping out all the dinosaurs of the world.
“We’ve always been fans of difficult old school platformers that challenged our skill and sanity, and as an independent studio we have the freedom to make the games that we want to play,” said Mike Gaboury, art director of TreeFortress Games. “With JumpJet Rex, we have created a game that is easy to pick up, fun to play, hard to master, and even harder to put down. Plus you get to play as a T-Rex with space boots, which is pretty rad!”
Currently the game contains 12 solo levels. As the Early Access progresses, expect upwards to 40 levels, co-op modes, and other mini-games like deathmatch and battle modes to follow. Players can now take on these levels alone while facing their own ghosts to improve times. You’ll also be able to race against ghosts of your friends and those on top of the leaderboards. JumpJet Rex has four level types: snow, space, jungle, and castle.
JumpJet Rex is currently on sale at 15% off for $8.49 through January 21. The full price will be $9.99. For more info, head on over to their Steam page.
