Kingdom Hearts series creator and director Tetsuya Nomura, has revealed an image on Twitter of Daybreak Town from Kingdom Hearts X Back Cover in celebration of the original game’s 14th Anniversary in Japan.
KH誕生から今日で14年との事。ソラが旅立った年齢になりましたね。長く支えて下さっている皆さんのおかげです。ありがとうございます。KHⅡ.8から開発中の夜明けの街をお届けします。今後もよろしくお願いします。

Kingdom Hearts X Back Cover is the retelling of the story of the Foretellers, which will also be told in the upcoming mobile title, Unchained X. This cinematic addition to the collection is also running in the new engine that Kingdom Hearts 3 will be using: Unreal Engine 4. Square Enix is also using something they created called the Kingdom Shader, which is trying to replicate Disney’s “Brushwork style” in 3D (Famitsu, via Kotaku).
Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue contains three chapters of the Kingdom Hearts saga. The main inclusion in the collection is Dream Drop Distance HD, which is the story of Sora and Riku taking the Mark of Mastery exam in the realm of dreams. Originally on the 3DS, the story continues from KH2 and features a new mechanic called Flowmotion, which allows the two protagonists of the game to bounce off walls and interact with the environment in battle and traversal.
An all new chapter is going to be included in this collection as well, and it is called Birth By Sleep 0.2. Acting as a prologue to the story of KH3, the game follows Aqua on her journey in the Realm of Darkness. Not much has been given on this title, but Nomura has stated it will be as long as it would finish a world in the mainline games (Esuteru via Siliconera). This will also be running on the Kingdom Hearts 3 engine.
Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue is scheduled to release in 2016 for the PS4. Check out my analysis on Kingdom Hearts 3’s possible appearance at E3 with this article.
