Famitsu, as well as getting the scoop on the fifth Star Ocean installment, has also found out more details on the future of Kingdom Hearts, and the series may have a smartphone title on the horizon.
When speaking to Kingdom Hearts director, Tetsuya Nomura, the magazine was told that “Development on Kingdom Hearts III is going smoothly, but there will also be new announcements connected to it. ” He continued, “As one of those new announcements, I think we should be able to announce a smartphone-specific development for the series in short order.” Also notice that Nomura is teasing multiple announcements. There will be more than just “smartphone-specific development.”
These announcements will be taking place this November at the D23 Expo in Japan. Whether or not E3 is to be the home for Kingdom Hearts III news remains to be confirmed.
Fans were previously teased at multiple Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD ReMIX launch events that there will be more news about Kingdom Hearts to be shared this year.
Kingdom Hearts III is expected to release on the PS4 and Xbox One, and is currently in development with no release date.
