I didn’t hate Knack. Sure, it was a very flawed game, but I enjoyed its simplistic combat and it did look nice. It was pretty much a given in my eyes that it would get a sequel, but I was still kind of surprised to see it get announced today at PlayStation Experience. Knack 2 will feature plenty of new mechanics, featured in the new trailer which you can watch below.
Some of the noticeable differences between this and the first game is the ability to go from big Knack to small Knack. Not sure how interchangeable that is or if you have to rebuild Knack again as you play. There is the ability to do co-op, which seems to include some vehicle missions based on the trailer. You can also punch your friend into enemies for some more impact than normal. Combat looks about the same, but there does seem to be some new moves and animations. It also seems there will still be different types of relics which Knack can form into. There is no evidence in the trailer that both players will be able to be different types of relics, or if they will have to be the same the whole game.
This game is a perfect fit for PlayStation Experience though as the only people who seem to care about Knack still are die-hard PS4 fans who bought the game at launch. I have a soft spot for it since I feel like it was pretty unfairly maligned, but Knack 2 doesn’t look all that different and they held off on showing a lot of the cringeworthy aspects of the original – most notably, its story, characters and Knack’s voice.
Stay tuned to BagoGames for more information about the upcoming platformer, and let us know if you’re excited about the sequel to the PS4 launch title.
