Metal Gear Solid may be on its way back to players in an all new collection according to the latest indications from series creator Hideo Kojima.
The Metal Gear godfather tweeted a photo of a projected image featuring the words “METAL GEAR COLLECTION 2014” along with the Kojima Productions logo ahead of this year’s Tokyo Gameshow.

This news comes in the wake of Kojima Productions’ planned reveal of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain’s latest features (and release date, according to speculation) during a Kojima Station video presentation. The stealth action title will be showcased at the Tokyo Game Show next week. Its prologue, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, launched earlier this past March.
If an MGS collection is released, then it will have only been three years since 2011’s HD release for PS3, Xbox 360, and Playstation Vita including Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. Some have suggested an upscaled, 1080p MGS collection may be in order.
Kojima is also teaming up with filmmaker Guillermo del Toro (Pacific Rim, Hellboy) to develop Konami’s next Silent Hill game, starring The Walking Dead‘s Norman Reedus. We recently endured that horror so you don’t have to. Applaud our nerves of steel if you like.
The Tokyo Gameshow takes place this Sep. 18th through Sep. 21st and is expected to showcase such upcoming titles from such developers as From Software, Atlus, Nintendo, Bandai Namco, SEGA, and Konami introducing games like Bloodborne, Persona 5, Sonic Boom, and Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros for Wii U and 3DS.
