The family that kills together, stays together, or so the Mafia games have led us to believe. The same’s true for Mafia III as the series finally steps foot in the Louisiana bayou.
As it teased earlier in the week, 2K Games has officially unveiled its first look at its newest Mafia down south where the gators grow so big – and it’s a grim one. The gravelly narration introduces us to at least one of the game’s leads, an air-force pilot and apparent Vietnam War veteran with a score to settle with his squirming gator bait in the backseat. Spoiler: things don’t go well for the gentleman.
The teaser trailer’s final shot gives us another look at the game’s other likely protagonists, some of which appear more multi-cultural for the series thus far. The cars and music suggest a certain ’70s atmosphere. If true, that’d set the game nearly twenty years after Mafia II‘s ’50s escapades and the original Mafia‘s Prohibition-era rackets of the ’30s.

According to the trailer above, Mafia III welcomes us into its new family next year on Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC.
