Volume 15 of Metal Gear Online‘s weekly Designer’s Notes focuses on a new mission that will be coming to the online game in next month’s free update. Titled “Sabotage”, the mission will launch as part of the update which also comes out the same month as the expansion pack “Cloaked in Silence”. Sabotage was announced previously as part of the expansion pack, but players do not require the pack to play the new mission.
Two teams will fight to either defend or fulton/destroy a missile located within an Electromagnetic Barrier that the offensive team will have to deactivate before they can successfully dispose of the enemy missile. Defending teams will be attempting to prevent the attacking team from achieving their goals. If the Electromagnetic Barrier is not turned off, any fulton attempts within the area will fail. The missile can still be damaged, but it is far less than it would be if the barrier was turned off.
In order to remove the barrier, players will have to work together to get to one of two terminals that can turn off the shield. The barrier can be turned back on if the defending team decides to focus on doing that instead of defending the missile. If the defending team does not reactivate the Electromagnetic Barrier and the missile has been fultoned, they can still try to take down the fulton balloon before it successfully takes the missile out of the area.
It is clear that this mission for Metal Gear Online intends to make teamwork a key component of a successful Sabotage mission. It will become available through the update coming in March 2016.
