Michael Fassbender’s geek cred just continues to build. He wowed us with his portrayal of a young Magneto in X-Men: First Class, and he was far and away the best part of Prometheus. He even lent his voice to a character in Fable 3. Looks like you can now add the upcoming film version of the hit game, Assassin’s Creed, to that list.
Very little is known about the film, other than it being produced by Sony pictures and that Fassbender will apparently be playing Desmond Miles. This will obviously be an older version of the character, so it makes me wonder what other changes are likely to come.
Video games and Hollywood don’t exactly have the best track record, but with a name like Michael Fassbender, your film gains an instant degree of credibility at least. I know what you’re thinking: “Isn’t that what everyone thought when The Rock signed on to star in the film version of Doom?” The answer is No. Nobody thought that.

The end of that article was hilarious! XD
I honestly do hope this movie gives some credibility to video game films. Here’s also hoping that certain directors are not allowed anywhere near this movie…
Uwe Boll?
Him and Michael Bay, thank you very much!
Yeah, both of them are worthless. I actually derive a measure of enjoyment from Boll’s films though. They’re just so terrible that I can’t look away. I am sorely afraid of what Bay is going to do to my precious Ninja Turtles. At least he’s not directing it….
