The Xbox One’s almost an unrecognizable package from the one Microsoft debuted in full nearly two years ago this month and in the week before E3 2015, it just got a few more additions.
After plenty of virtually confirmed rumors, Microsoft itself’s confirmed the existence and price tag of its long-suspected 1 terabyte Xbox One along with its new controller. This new Xbox One will hit stores this week at the console’s Kinect-less price of $399.
In select territories, these new Xbox Ones will be boasting a copy of Halo: The Master Chief Collection for a limited time – how limited we don’t know. They’ll also be featuring new controllers.
The new controller in question will feature improved firmware that allows it to take updates sans a USB connection. The controller comes to us in two colors: basic black and a special “Covert Forces” camouflage for all you military shooter fans out there.
At long last, the Xbox One’s also got an adapter allowing you to hook up wirelessly to your PC. The $24.99 device is out this fall and compatible with Windows 10 PCs, laptops, and tablets via USB 2.0 or 3.0.
Those that opt for the new 3.5mm connection instead of the chat dongle that includes hardware controls for balance and volume will still be able to adjust those settings. The settings menu will have all of those options.
Microsoft’s meanwhile announced that the price of its standard 500 gigabyte models – which was dropped to $349 this past holiday season – will be staying at $350. Permanently. You can nab one for just that this June 16th, the same day that the new 1TB models are available and this year’s E3 convention.
