It was way back last winter when developers Telltale and Mojang announced that it was building a story mode for Minecraft. Now, here it is.
Aptly titled Minecraft: Story Mode, the five-part episodic campaign was unveiled with its very first trailer at Stockholm, Sweden’s annual Minecraft convention: Minecon. As with all Telltale games as of late, it’s got choices and it’s got actors – quite notable ones, even.
Players will be placed squarely into the blocky shoes of Jesse, our main hero who’s tracking down The Order of the Stone, a group of adventures that slayed an Ender Dragon. Sounds fun.
For those of you not looking forward to Walking Dead-style blood and guts, fear not. Telltale assures us that their story mode for Minecraft will be one that “fans young and old” can enjoy. And no, you don’t have to have played Minecraft before either. Telltale says that Story Mode‘s an entirely new – and separate – game.
Minecraft: Story Mode will star none other than Patton Oswalt (Parks and Recreation) as well as Ashley Johnson (The Last of Us, Growing Pains), Paul Reubens (Pee Wee’s Playhouse), Dave Fennoy (Telltale’s The Walking Dead), Corey Feldman (Goonies, Gremlins) Scott Porter (Friday Night Lights), Brian Posehn (Mission Hill, The Sarah Silverman Program), and Billy West (Futurama).
Minecraft: Story Mode’s coming “soon” to Xbox One and 360, PlayStation 4 and 3, iOS, and Android devices. Each episode will be available for download separately or with a soon-to-be announced season pass. Pricing remains to be seen per region.
