Telltale Games has had a lot of success with their brand of adventure games, but for some reason they’ve never made their way onto the Wii U, despite having released previous games on the Wii. With Minecraft: Story Mode, two firsts are happening: the game will be the first Telltale game on the Wii U, and; it will be the first Minecraft entry on a Nintendo platform.
In an interview with The Verge, Telltale explains that bringing Minecraft: Story Mode to the Wii U allows for new fans of the Minecraft series to be made. It is not a typical Minecraft game, so it offers a chance to appreciate the world and appeal of the series in a different light. This also offers an opportunity for Wii U owners to experience a Telltale-style adventure game, something which they have not had the opportunity to do yet.
Hopefully this means that Telltale will consider porting over some of their more critically acclaimed series to the Nintendo platform, depending on how well Minecraft: Story Mode sells. Minecraft: Story Mode will be released later this year on pretty much every current platform.
