Monarch is the first new titan introduced by developers Respawn to Titanfall 2. The new titan is free for all Titanfall 2 players, and alongside the new titan there is a new map for players to play on, Relic, which is an update to an original Titanfall map. Respawn has also added a number of fixes and tweaks all around to the game, which should make for an even better playing experience for players.
Being the first DLC titan introduced to the game, Monarch is an interesting beast, for sure. She is more of a support titan than a full on assault titan, but also has a unique kit where an upgrade path is available to players the longer they play. A couple standouts include an energy beam that can be fired at teammate titans to restore some of their shields. As well, Monarch has an execution where the pilot leaves their titan, steals a battery from the enemy titan, and hops back in as they finish them off. She’s a very interesting addition to the game and it’s great to see Respawn branch out in what they do with titans in the game.
Relic is a great new map that has been brought forward and touched up for Titanfall 2. It plays a little bit differently than it originally did, as there are more walls for wall runs, and areas that are accessible far more easily than before due to player maneuverability. The map has lots of great places to hide and it can easily go from enclosed battle spaces to wide open areas in the blink of an eye, more noticeably than any other map. Respawn also made quite a few changes to Crashsite, where they cleaned up areas that players got caught on often, as well as added more wall running spots and zip lines, which has really upped mobility on the map.
There have been new prime skins, new camos, callsigns, nose art, and warpaint for purchase to help customize pilots and titans. All of this amounts to plenty of new offerings for Titanfall 2 players, and hopefully it helps as they work their way to Gen 100. What do you think of Monarch? Have you used her yet? Let us know what you think and if you enjoy the way Respawn is handling their DLC.
