This morning, during Tokyo Game Show Online, Capcom has released a trailer for Monster Hunter Rise, their newest title. It looks to focus on how some of the Wirebug gameplay looks, while also retaining the same gameplay style released. It also revealed other bits and pieces that people knew were coming. Online gameplay has also been confirmed to make a return.
Previously, we covered the upcoming release trailers for Monster Hunter Rise and Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin. If you’d like to take a look at those, you can do so here. In the meantime, you can watch the new Monster Hunter Rise trailer below.
What Was Revealed
In today’s Monster Hunter Rise update, it kept the same reveal format from the first trailer and added a few visual details on how the Wirebug works. For starters, players can grapple from basically anywhere twice and can use it to alter their attack patterns. The second point was shown with Heavy Bowgun and Hammer, two of the series’ mainstay weapons.
Aside from that, this new trailer revealed two other pieces of information. The first, and possibly most important, is that Monster Hunter Rise’s online play is basically confirmed at this point, which has been in the series since the beginning. The second point more so points towards solo gameplay, as it shows that Palico assists are coming back as well. Palicoes assisting solo players was a mechanic in Monster Hunter 4 and World, and was made to help balance the game when multiplayer wasn’t active.
One last note that was shown was what pre-orders and the Deluxe Edition give players if they purchase those versions. Pre-orders give players a Golden Retriever-themed Layered Armor (MH’s way of saying “alternate costumes”) for their Palamute (a new mount that hasn’t shown much gameplay yet), a Forest Cat layered armor for their Palico and a “Novice Talisman.” It’s said to help with the early stages, but to what to degree it helps hasn’t been shown
As for the Deluxe Edition, purchasing that gives the player three Layered Armor sets and other various cosmetic bonuses. It seems like, as it stands now, the Deluxe Edition is more so to complete the experience, rather than have a Season Pass.
Monster Hunter Rise is releasing March 31st exclusively on Nintendo Switch, and pre-orders are available now via the Nintendo eShop.
