After various hints, images, and a lot of hype (mostly coming from Ed Boon’s twitter feed) Mortal Kombat X has officially been announced as the next instalment in the brutal fighting franchise.
Though the trailer is clearly CG rather than legit gameplay footage, it does hint at new mechanics including interactive environments (a la Injustice: Gods Among Us) and the return of the x-ray moves from the previous Mortal Kombat game.
Confirmed to launch on consoles both old and new, Mortal Kombat X will be available for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC and is slated for 2015. The game will make its first public appearance at E3 next week.
