Activision has announced that they have secured the rights to make video games out of the upcoming Sony produced Ghostbusters movie.
Two titles were revealed; the first title, coming to consoles and PC, is simply called ‘Ghostbusters’ while the second mobile version is called Ghostbusters: Slime City.
Ghostbusters for Xbox One, PS4 and PC will be a third-person action role-playing game with couch co-op with up to four players locally, a feature many games this generation have seemed to have abandon . Players will take control of a rookie Ghostbuster and level up their gear and abilities by taking on objectives, defeating ghosts and discovering hidden collectibles that are spread around Manhattan. There will be four heroes to choose from, and each has his or her own unique personality and play style, bringing special strengths to support the team.
Ghostbusters: Slime City, sees players as a Ghostbuster saving New York City from new threats. Players will be able to team up with others using asynchronous co-op; progressing through the game will lead payers to powerful ghosts that they can collect, there will also be leaderboards featured.
Ghostbusters is planned to arrive on the PS4,Xbox One and Windows PC via Steam on July 12.
The exact release date for Ghostbusters: Slime City was not immediately announced, but was instead given a July window. The game will be released on iOS and Android.
Both games will take place after the events of the upcoming movie reboot, directed and co-written by Paul Feig, and will release before the movie’s July 15, 2016 date.
