Parabole have launched a new trailer for the first episode of their interactive mystery tale, Kôna. Appropriately, the first episode will be called Day One.
In Kôna, the player takes the role of Carl Faubert, a war veteran turned private detective, who has been hired by W. Hamilton, a rich industrialist. Hamilton wants Faubert to travel to an eerie town in North Quebec in order to investigate reports of vandalism to Hamilton’s summer residence and hunting manor.
Hamilton and the local Cree community have clashed on numerous occasions, with the latter accusing Hamilton of needlessly desecrating sacred lands in order to make a profit.
The Crees are the obvious suspects, so Faubert readily accepts the case, thinking it’s an easy win and a way to make an quick buck from a wealthy client.
Of course, nothing is ever as easy as it seems. When Faubert arrives, not only does Hamilton fail to meet him, but Faubert finds that his client is missing and the whole town is deserted.
To make matters worse, a freak blizzard has blown in. Now, Faubert has to explore the unsettling, deserted environment to find out what happened, as well as battle the elements in order to survive.
Sporting a beautiful, stylized 1970’s aesthetic and detailed, frigid environments, Kôna boasts that it’s “as close as you’re going to get to playing a spooky campfire story, and it’s one you won’t soon forget.”
Kôna: Day One is set to be released in January of 2016 for Windows, Mac, and Linux.
