Ubisoft announced in a press release that their popular real-time strategy game series Anno will be getting another addition called Anno 2070. This game will be the first of the long series to feature futuristic elements.
Anno 2070 story takes us into a bleak future. The sea levels have risen due to global warming and what is left of the world is yours for the shaping. You can choose between two unique factions, the industrial minded Tycoons or the environmentally friendly Eco’s to forge your empire. A choice of a faction will dictate the look and feel of a city, the research and technologies available, as well as the unique desires of your people.
The game features both an online and offline play. Players who choose to create a civilization in single-player mode and will be tasked with completing certain missions in a set amount of time. They will also have the choice to play in “continuous mode” , which is a single-player mode but it allows you to build your civilization for as long as you want with no time restrictions. The multiplayer mode was not detailed thorougly in the press release but it was noted that the multiplayer mode will be innovative and different from past releases.
Because Anno 2070 was built in the future, developer Related Designs was not limited to historical boundaries or limitations and took license with much of the games design. They even designed a bran new engine specifically for the game and some of the screenshots of the futuristic look and new design can be seen below.
Anno 2070 is expected to make a winter release later this year. It will be released exclusively for the PC.
