PSN has become the dropping station for old and new games alike. In recent weeks and months it has become host to many PSX-era titles including past action shooters and RPG style games. Most specifically Square (formally Square Soft) titles from the PSX-era have started cropping up on PSN, including the recent announcements of Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy VI. This of course had led to rumors that other popular Square titles from SNES and PSX would be making their way to PSN.
It was confirmed today that Chrono Trigger, debuted in 1995 on the SNES and then re-released on PSX in 2001 has been rated by ESRB for release on PSN and PSP.
It is not yet known however when the exact release date will be. Only that it should be sometime soon and that the game will be listed as a PSone classic in the PSN store.
ChronoTrigger is an old fave. Just a fun RPG with lots of replay value because of all the different endings. Glad to hear it'll be coming to the PSN!
I was a huge Square Soft fan as a kid. I played Final Fantasy 7, 8, 9. My ultimate favorite was Final Fantasy Tactics. Not sure how Chrono Trigger matches up to those titles. But if they're anything like it I bet it's an awesome game.
