It was a very close call at this slow weekend box office, more than any other. Jake Gyllenhaal’s new and insane crime drama Nightcrawler made it debut with a $10,909,000 weekend gross. The horror Ouija was just barely inched out with a $10,900,000 gross. It’s one of those cases where it’ll be far more interesting to see when the actual numbers are released. The rest of the movies managed to hold their own as Fury (2014), Gone Girl and The Book of Life maintained their slots and St. Vincent continues to do keep in the top 10 with its expansion.
