Satoru Iwata has made a comment recently regarding how the company is viewing current sales of its new console, the Nintendo Wii U, in the US.
In an interview with Reuters, Satoru Iwata stated that “sales are not bad”. The full comment is below:
“At the end of the Christmas season, it wasn’t as though stores in the U.S. had no Wii U left in stock, as it was when Wii was first sold in that popular boom. But sales are not bad, and I feel it’s selling steadily.”
Satoru Iwata is correct regarding the lack of ‘Wii-Fever’ regarding its new console. This could be due to the vast number of people who still believe that the Wii U is an add-on to the original Nintendo Wii and that it is a new console altogether.
With Nintendo stating late 2012 that it was focussing on ‘hard core gamers’ during the launch period of the console when advertising, maybe Christmas 2013 will bring better statistics…
