The NFC capability in the Wii U gamepad has all but not been used since the game first launched in stores nearly four months ago now. Gamers now seem to be worrying about one of two things: if the feature will ever be implemented or if they need to start saving their money for NFC-collectables now.
The technology is similar to that used in Skylanders and that will power Disney Infinity where a figure/card is put onto a service (in this case the bottom left of the Wii U gamepad) and the game interacts to this on the television/gamepad.
According to a recent report by Polygon, Nintendo is working on NFC integration so we may very well see it in games soon. This went as far as Shigeru Miyamoto saying;
“With NFC, that’s a feature that everyone that owns a Wii U can take advantage of. So that’s what we’re putting [as] our priorities right now.”
Do you agree with Miyamoto? Would NFC bring new life to franchises?
