One Direction has made its Rock Band 4 debut as DLC today.
Four songs from the band have been released on the Rock Band 4 Music Store. You can listen to them and see the gameplay below.
The songs included are:
– “What Makes You Beautiful”
– “Never Enough”
– “Best Song Ever”
– “Story of My Life”
Each song is $1.99 each or altogether for $6.99 (as part of One Direction Pack 01). Harmonix has included some notes on the development of the inclusion of these songs.
For “What Makes You Beautiful,” Harmonix say in the video description that it has “a fun triplet pattern for bassists, as well as power triplet drum fills heading into each chorus within the song.” They also included a focus on the cameras for the song to “show off the complexity in the vocal harmonies.”
With “Never Enough,” Harmonix think that it “has a fun swing feel with a challenging vocal track, [and] the lower harmonies sing a fun repetitive line to accompany the overall shuffle vibe.”
For “Best Song Ever,” Harmonix note that the “drums transition from a disco beat to a beatboxing section, and cameras change on the beat for major moments in the song.” They state this is the most difficult song in the DLC pack for all instruments involved.
“Fancy finger”ed guitar players will enjoy “Story of My Life,” according to Harmonix, due to the “guitar arpeggios in the song.” The bass guitar transitions to rhythm guitar and cello during sections of the song. A jungle beat is added to the red pad of the drum as well.
Over 1600 songs are now available on the Rock Band 4 Music Store.
While the reception of this DLC has been mixed in the comments section of the video, it’s nice to have many forms of music included in Rock Band. If you’re interested in this DLC, you can download the songs now.
