Sorry, kids, it looks like Ori and the Blind Forest won’t be under the tree this holiday season. The highly anticipated platform adventure game that charmed attendees of Microsoft’s E3 press conference has been delayed into early 2015, according to its developer Moon Studios.
The studio announced the delay in a blog post on their website:
“While we’re extremely excited for all of you to get your hands on Ori and the Blind Forest as soon as possible, we made the decision together with our partners at Microsoft Studios that we’ll need just a little more time in order to add a final layer of polish to – what we hope – will be an unforgettable gaming experience.”
The game follows the story of Ori, a cat-like forest sprite, as he journeys through various challenges and gorgeous backdrops. The team at Moon Studios has spent over four years developing the game, primarily focusing on the intricate gameplay that likens itself to titles like Super Meat Boy. It will feature over 10 hours of continuous content and zero load time.
Microsoft will release Ori and the Blind Forest simultaneously on XBox One and PC before releasing on XBox 360 later next year. To relieve the anticipation, Moon Studios has released the game’s prologue, which you can watch here.
