With new games in the Ninja Gaiden series still appearing today, 3DS owners can now see where it all began, as the very first home console Ninja Gaiden game is set to appear on Nintendo’s 3DS Virtual Console, according to the 3DS eShop.
A previous press release stated that the game was scheduled to appear in November of this year, but November has come and gone and the release date is now listed as December 6th. The game is priced at $4.99.
Developed by Tecmo and released for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1988, Ninja Gaiden was a 2D side-scrolling action platformer which saw the player take control of Ryu Hayabusa, a ninja on a quest for revenge. The game was renowned for its brutal difficulty and cinematic cut-scenes, and was successful enough to spawn a franchise.
