Blizzard has announced the release date for their new game Overwatch, as well as revealed the dates for an Open Beta test.
The game will launch on May 24th, and the free all-access Open Beta will take place for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC starting May 5th through the 9th. However, players who pre-purchase the game will have early access to the Beta for an extra two days on the 3rd and 4th of the same month.
In Overwatch, a once-essential taskforce of scientists, soldiers, and adventurers have been disbanded, but a war-torn world is still in need of such diverse array of heroes.
- Control, a new map type wherein teams can battle to take over and control objectives in a variety of different locations;
- The new progressive system, which awards players with different loot boxes for customizing their heroes with new skins, sprays, emotes, and voice lines;
- A new Play vs A.I. Mode which works in addition to the Quick Play Mode so players can test their abilities against computer-controlled enemies, and
- Custom Games, which will allow players to set special rules for hero switching, damage modifiers, and more.
