Papa’s … a long running popular flash based game series, with over 10 million hits across multiple websites and 14 iterations, mobile ports and fans around the world. From Pizza to donuts, hot dogs to cup cakes and now pie. I played the game on Poki.
The latest iteration in the 10 year old series gives us a slice of the life of a pie maker. The game follows the usual formula: take an order from the customer, go to the preparation station, choose a base and filling for the pie. Next comes the bake station which involves good timing and last but not least the toppings section which lets you place a copious amount of items on the pie and in the correct area for a bonus. Nothing new and nothing exciting yet still provides the same level of fun as the first Papa’s game.
There are a few new features to add some freshness to the game. A robust character creation system you would most likely find in a full release triple A game that includes hair styles and sliders make it even more enjoyable to create a monstrous avatar. A game token service where you have to stack burgers as high as you can without it falling is also included.
The further you progress in the game, the easier it becomes: a five space oven instead of three, faster cooking times and just general upgrades, you can unlock extra fillings and all sorts as well adding variation to the game, but after day 15 it starts to become slightly repetitive.
Repetitive is not always a bad thing because this game is fun and that is what really matters, Flipline Studios has made a great version of the near perfect game series. I recommend playing this if you have played any of the other 13 games as you will enjoy it especially if you are already familiar with the formula and controls.
