Assassin’s Creed creator Patrice Désilets’ on-again, off-again relationship with developer Ubisoft has spurred plenty of headlines throughout the past few years, but now he’s finally making new ones with in the indie space. Désilet’s promised us a new “AAA” game last winter from his new team at Panache Games and it’s Ancestry: The Humankind Odyssey, an episodic look at humanity’s greatest hits.
Showing off the game at the Reboot Develop 2015 conference in Croatia today, Désilet’s shared a sweeping look at mankind’s biggest accomplishments: when we invented tools, Darwin’s birth, the moon landings, and a variety of other cool things we’ve done as a species (skipping over all that Templar stuff, of course).

More details for the project are on the game’s official website, which reveals that Ancestors is a third-person “action-adventure survival episodic” game due this year. Players will relive these high points from our past, but Panache warns that, “our civilization is one idea away from extinction or evolution.”
It’s not known what systems Ancestors is being released for, but the studio promised to reveal more later in the year.
