Persona 5 has been long-awaited by many JRPG fans, as Atlus has been busy milking the Persona 4 franchise for all its worth. Several fighting games, re-releases, and even a dancing game have made Persona 4 into a bit of a cultural phenomenon. Fans who were hoping to get their hands on Persona 5 will have to wait a little bit longer than Japanese audiences though. The game will release on PS4 and PS3 on February 14, 2017. Yes, that means you may have to choose between your loved one and a new Persona title.
In Japan, the game comes out September 15th of this year. So if you are really determined, you could import the title, but unless you speak Japanese, you will probably be out of luck in terms of understanding the game. The hype for the latest entry in the series has been mounting ever since Catherine was released in 2011, effectively freeing up the Persona team to take a stab at a new game in the franchise.
Persona 5 will release in February alongside a couple different physical editions for fans to choose between. Above is the box art for the standard release, which looks incredible. Both limited editions will be exclusive to the PS4 release, with the first one being a SteelBook that will only be available to pre-orders and a limited number of day-one editions. The “Take Your Heart” Premium edition will be the one die-hard fans will be craving the most as it includes everything from the soundtrack on CD, a 64-page hardcover art book, a plush of Morgana the cat, a school bag that is a replica of the ones found in the game, a steelbook, and a collectible box that contains everything listed above. While the steelbook edition will retail at $59.99, the “Take Your Heart” edition will list at $89.99, which is a pretty good price considering all the content you will be getting.
