April’s NPD numbers were released and for the fourth consecutive month the PlayStation 4 has outsold the Xbox One. It remains to be seen if the PS4 is doing so well because of the plethora of games that are out for the system or because there is a $100 price difference. We won’t know till July or August if Microsoft’s Kinect-less bundle will put them back on top of the charts. Starting June 9th, an Xbox One without Kinect will cost the same as a PlayStation 4, $399.
For the second consecutive month, Titanfall has been the best selling retail game across all platforms. Respawn Entertainment released new Titanfall DLC today entitled “Expedition”.
Here is how the Top 10 in sales broke down for the month of April:
1.) Titanfall (360, XBO, PC)
2.) Call of Duty: Ghosts (360, PS4, PS3, XBO, NWU, PC)
3.) NBA 2K14 (360, PS4, PS3, XBO, PC)
4.) Minecraft (360)
5.) LEGO The Hobbit (360, PS3, XBO, PS4, 3DS, NWU, PSV)

* The consoles that follow the title are listed in the order in which they sold the highest amount.
Clearly, Microsoft is still selling Xbox 360 games with little to no issue as 9 of the top 10 games sold the most on the Xbox 360 platform.
The NPD Group had this information to share about Software sales.
“New physical software is in a transition period as software for new consoles are doing well, but collectively not offsetting declines, leading to a 10 percent decline in software sales… PS4 software combined with Xbox One software sales are up over 40 percent compared to sales of the PS3 and Xbox 360 through their first six months. Wii U software sales were up over last year by over 80 percent.”
