Sony announced today that PlayStation Plus members will receive special early-access to their beta of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale later on this Fall. Following the early-access passes, the game will be entering open beta for all PlayStation users to test out. No specific dates have been set quite yet, but if you keep an eye on the PlayStation Blog, you’re bound to find out in the coming weeks.
For those that may not know what this mouthful of a title is going to be, it will be very similar to the extremely popular Nintendo series of Super Smash Bros games. Lucky for PlayStation fans, PSASBR will operate in a similar fashion as Super Smash Bros, in that players will be able to choose a character that has been made popular via the PlayStation-specific platform (including Kratos, Sly Cooper, and Colonal Radec, to name a few) and fight against other players or AI opponents. It’s also certainly worth mentioning that players will be able to perform cross-platform matches between the PS3 version and the PS Vita version of the game, so you’re free to take your fights on the road.
Although PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale may not be as catchy as Super Smash Bros, it’s probably safe to say that the majority of PS users will be very happy with this upcoming title, so keep an eye out for it.
