I fell off Pokémon Go pretty hard after tracking got taken out almost completely. But the team at Niantic knows they still have a very loyal fanbase and are constantly making tweaks to make the game more rewarding. Today, they announced the inclusion of daily quests that will amount in XP bonuses, stardust, and additional items. The quests will be daily, with larger rewards if completed seven days in a row. Below are the details:
“Catching a Pokémon every day will earn the following bonus:
- 500 XP
- 600 Stardust
Catching a Pokémon every day for 7 days straight will earn the following larger bonus:
- 2,000 XP
- 2,400 Stardust
Visiting a PokéStop and spinning the Photo Disc every day will earn the following bonus:
- 500 XP
- A number of additional items
Visiting a PokéStop every day for 7 days straight will earn the following larger bonus:
- 2,000 XP
- A greater number of additional items
If you catch a Pokémon at any time on Tuesday local time, you’ll be eligible for the next daily bonus on Wednesday at 12 AM local time.”
There is no official date on when this will be implemented, but chances are it’s pretty soon. To be fair, this is still not enough to get me back on board as this just sounds like the typical mobile game trappings. There are many features that could be added and have been hinted at, but pushing towards a more check-in based system isn’t one of those features I’ve been waiting for.
That being said, these bonuses aren’t exactly difficult and require pretty minimal effort so if you are already playing, you’ll likely get these pretty easily. I know that I’ve seen a lot of people still enjoying the game, so this is a smart move by Niantic. I just need something more substantial to get me back on board.
