Nintendo has released information regarding the Early Access Competitions for Pokkén Tournament for the Wii U.
Players can gain an entry spot on the 2016 Pokémon Championship Series and play the new Pokkén Tournament before the game’s release on March 18th by participating in the Nintendo hosted Pokkén Tournament Early Access Competitions which will be at certain GameStop retail stores in the U.S. on Saturday, February 27th.
The winners from each regional tourney will be granted advancement to the finals which will take place on March 17th at the Nintendo NY store located in New York. Two finalists of the Early Access Competitions will win travel accommodations to the official 2016 Pokémon US National Championships which is being held July 1-3 in Columbus, Ohio. Then the finalists must battle to advance their place in the 2016 Pokémon World Championships.
Between 11 am through 5:30 pm local time, select GameStop stores will host the Pokkén Tournament Early Access Competition on Saturday, February 27th. Those participating may begin to register at 10 am local time. This is the list of the selected GameStop stores which are holing the competitions:

Nintendo states:
“The Pokkén Tournament Early Access Competitions are open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis, and will be split into two age brackets: players born in 2001 or later and players born in 2000 or earlier. The winner of each age bracket will then be trained by a professional fighting game player during fun training sessions that will be shared on Nintendo social media channels. Once training is complete, the winner from each city and age bracket and a guest will be flown to the Nintendo NY store on March 17 for the Pokkén Tournament Early Access Competition finals, where they will battle against all other local champions. The winners of the Pokkén Tournament Early Access Competition finals will each win a Wii U system, the Pokkén Tournament game and a travel award to Columbus, Ohio, where they will battle at the 2016 Pokémon US National Championships for the chance to advance to the 2016 Pokémon World Championships in San Francisco”.
