In an interview with IGN, Nintendo designer Shigeru Miyamoto revealed that, after the 3D iteration of Ocarina of Time, the boys over at their studios have been playing around with the idea of another Zelda remake.
Miyamoto said that they have been weighing the options of either remaking the N64’s Majora’s Mask or the classic A Link To The Past, arguably the favorite Zelda game of all time. The two are vastly different; the former being a dark action game while the latter leans more towards a 2D dungeon crawler RPG. Either way, Miyamoto would not offer much insight into which they were favoring, saying fans would have to wait,”just a little longer” to find out.
He went on to add,”We have so many goals right now. We’re always looking at expanding our audience and giving people the opportunity to get their hands on 3DS and see what kind of fun gaming experiences they can have. And now, we’re also tasked with pushing the Wii U. So we have lots of good opportunities in terms of thinking about which Zelda game is going to be best for which purpose.” So it is completely possible that we will see both games remade; one on the 3DS, the other on the upcoming Wii U.
