Darksiders 2 is the sequel to the triple A title Darksiders that released in 2010. The game is a third person action-adventure role playing game, in it you play as one of the four horsemen of the already developed apocalypse that came a little too early according to the first games protagonist War, who was at blame for causing it. In the first game your mission is to try and prove that you are not at fault for Earths untimely destruction, and you end up wound into a large conspiracy between the forces of Heaven, Hell, and the Charred Council, the oldest beings in the known universe and rulers of all things that exist.
This time around you play the role of Death, after hearing about the events of the previous game, your character flies onto earth like a comet with the other two Horsemen to try and prove that your brother War was not at fault for causing an early end to humanity. Knowing that he was the most honorable and incorruptible of the four, Death is ready to fight for his brothers cause and stand by him against the Charred Councils orders. If The Legend of Zelda and God of War had some sort of weird love child, Darksiders would be the outcome, it’s filled with button mashing combat, platforming puzzle adventures, and massive boss battles that will shake you off of your chair and into a pile of your own drool.
This new video showcases some of the dungeon platforming and a boss battle that you can expect to see in the retail release. We also get a look at what the inventory system will look like, a large improvement from the last game, this time around you have more of a choice as to what armour you are wearing, and there seems to be a classical RPG like rarity system tied into the colour that the item has for its name. This improved system will give the player more choices with how they play the game and deal with enemies. Our gaming taste buds are treated to the sight of what the interviewee says are like the “makers” forklifts and utility workers, these constructs will be available in some dungeons and will work with the player to assist you with some of the more impossible challenges, the one shown in the video is known only as the rideable construct, and we can see it destroying large crystals and shooting out a chain hand to allow the player to get across large gaps in the terrain. The video is ended with a short view at what one of the many boss battles will look like, we are informed that there will be one boss per dungeon. Two words: Yes. Please.
Darksiders 2 has a release date of June 26th, 2012 on all platforms and you can expect a review here when it hits store shelves.
