Prey is coming out pretty soon, apparently. Bethesda has just announced that Arkane Studios’s Prey will release on May 5th, 2017 for PS4, Xbox One and PC. You can watch a new gameplay trailer for the game, below.
Awakening on Talos I, a giant space station that is revolving around the moon, the game centers around an experiment gone wrong that forces players into a hunt between yourself and the aliens that now overrun the space station. However, it is you being hunted.
The gameplay trailer above gives off an interesting vibe that showcases how weird Prey might actually end up being, tonally. It’s definitely reminiscent of System Shock but I’d even say that it does actually seem kind of similar to the tone struck in the 2006 version. That being said, the weapons seem very inventive in this with a lot of visual flourishes to make things pop more on screen.
I’m also just excited to dig deep into the game’s narrative, which feels just weird enough to hook me and has enough philosophical and scientific ideas to explore. Here’s hoping Prey is everything that we’ve hoped for and doesn’t disappoint. We’ll find out when the game launches at the beginning of May.
