Slightly Mad Studios has announced that Project CARS will not be released for Wii U. Studio boss Ian Bell confirmed that the console is not powerful enough to run the game.
“The official line is that we’re awaiting an announcement from Nintendo on new hardware,” he said. “As of now, Project CARS is simply too much for the Wii U.”
Alex Tudor, the game’s creative director, said: “Despite much perseverance on the Wii U version of Project Cars, we will no longer be actively pursuing development on it as the quality does not meet our own high standards nor our intended vision for the title on this platform.”
“Apologies to our Nintendo fans out there that have been waiting for further news on this but we have no desire to release a product that isn’t at the very least comparable with our highest-rated versions on other platforms,” he continued. “We optimistically look forward therefore to what the future may hold.”
It is unclear if Slightly Mad wants to bring the original Project CARS or the recently announced sequel to Nintendo’s next platform.
Project CARS is available for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Apparently it was too much for PS4 and Xbox One too. From what I understand, the other console versions have had their share of bugs and crashes. That it doesn’t work at all on Wii U’s not reassuring, but hey, at least they didn’t wanna be the Battlefield 4 of racers for Wii U.
